New Contest and News

To celebrate the release of TRIPLE EXPOSURE on July 29th, I'm giving away several autographed copies of any of my backlist titles. To enter the contest, simply follow this link and read the excerpt. Then use the "Contact Colleen" button to send me the answer to this question before August 4th.

What does Zeke Pike do for a living?

Set in the amazing town of Marfa in West Texas, Triple Exposure has a very different take on the mystery lights (known as the Marfa Lights) that appear over the high desert on many dark nights. To research the heroine's career as a glider pilot, I did some hands-on research in the air. (Great experience!) And I absolutely loved my visits to Marfa... where I actually saw the lights one evening.

In other news, my July 07 release, HEAD ON, has been nominated for the Daphne du Maurier Award in romantic mystery/suspense. I'm very honored and look forward to attending the award ceremony (and Death by Chocolate celebration) in San Francisco later this summer.

I also have a new, two-book sale to Dorchester Publishing to celebrate. BENEATH BONE LAKE will be out in May 2009, and another romantic suspense  will follow in either late 09 or early 2010. I'm thrilled - and writing steadily to keep up with my new deadlines.

Thanks so much for reading. Happy summer to you!

Colleen

I'm blogging now, along with author Joni Rodgers, at Boxing the Octopus, where we yak about all things writing and keep up with the latest. Hope you'll stop by and say hello!

The Fur-Kids

Last spring, we adopted a new fur-pal for the aptly-named Zippy, our terrier mutt. Say hello to Jewel (another terrier mix from the Humane Society), below:

And here's our pal, Zippy. Doesn't she look like a live wire? The two of them tear around playing and are the best of friends!

Translations

I've recently collected covers from some foreign editions of my books. I love seeing what different artists come up with for all sorts of alternate editions of my books, so I thought I'd share that with you.

Fatal Error in Estonian (L), Polish (R), and German

I like both of these a lot, but the image of Luke looks nothing as I've pictured him.  Susan's pretty close, though.

Fade the Heat in Polish (L) and the large-print, hardcover edition (R)

I'm not sure what the one on the left is meant to be, but the one on the right reminds me of a serious case of sunburn pain! <VBG>

Here's a new one. This is the Estonian edition of The Deadliest Denial. It depicts a woman holding her arm above her head, presumably to fend off the lightning bolt above her.

Looking for an Autographed Copy?

In my home community, The Woodlands, Texas, readers have been asking where to find copies of Fade the Heat.  Around here, it has quickly sold out in many area stores.  The bookstore chains have reordered, but if you're looking for an autographed copy for yourself or as a gift, I'd like to recommend Woodlands Book Exchange on Glen Loch Dr., which has a nice supply of signed books.  You may wish to call ahead to be sure, at 281/292-3155.
